Perhaps we could all take a lesson from our schooner, the Adirondack II, which has been spending the winter in sunny Key West!
We know not everyone can pick up and follow the schooner to Florida for the whole season, but now is the best time to pop down for a week or weekend of sailing, nightlife and relaxation. (When the month of March starts with a record-breaking snowstorm in the Northeast, you know it's time for a vacation.)
With the Adirondack II being gone until mid May, we'd like to spend our Newport sailing time helping you plan your visit to Key West!
The Schedule
The Adirondack II goes out three times daily in Key West, for a morning, afternoon and evening trip, so virtually any week or weekend is a good time to visit for some sailing. On March 29, the Adirondack II will participate in its third monthly Wrecker's Cup Race, and tickets are on sale now to be on board during the seven mile race to a reef called Sand Key. This month, the Adirondack II will try to defend its championship after winning the first two races of the year!
New in Key West
-To coincide with the opening of its new pond, the Key West Botanical Gardens will host wine and music nights in March and April.
-The popular musical Reefer Madness will be in a much-demanded reprise in the next few months at the Waterfront Playhouse.
-A new terminal has been added to Key West International Airport! Now that traveling won't be nearly as much of a hassle, it's hard to find a reason not to visit the Adirondack II in her temporary home.
There are plenty of other attractions in Key West, so plan a quick escape while it's still snowing!
